Portugal Recipes

Traditional Portuguese recipes combine a mix of flavors and methods of many other cultures dating back centuries.

The cuisine of Portugal is motivated by the Atlantic and thus many of the dishes include fish, particularly salted cod (bacalhau in Portuguese) and an extensive diversity of spices used as piri piri, as well as cinnamon, vanilla and saffron. There are also Arab and Moorish influences, particularly in the south of the country. Olive oil is one of the bases of Portuguese food both for cooking and flavouring meals.
Portuguese is well known by its wines that had won numerous international prizes.
